Your Mother (mine too) or your grandma, or your great gandma whoever she was to you. Came here the legal way and created a life for her children to become true english speaking Americans. My Father’s family did the same thing, your grandpa, or great grandpa. Just like millions of others, they came here to seek a better life and to make this country a better place for their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren to live. And they expected us to do the same thing for our children. NOW, it is our turn and our responsibility to make this country a better place than we found it. How can we do that if we don’t hold our elected officials accountable for enforcing the laws of this country. How can this country remain great when we let our elected officials violate our laws just so they can create “illegal” voting pools for themselves. When will we stop this crap??? What is wrong with the Americans who don’t think this is wrong???
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today’s American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.
Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.
Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people.
When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French American, the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country’s flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I’m sorry, that’s not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900′s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn’t start talking about
dismantling the United States just yet.
FOR THE WRONG THINGS TO PREVAIL, THE RIGHTFUL MAJORITY NEEDS TO REMAIN COMPLACENT AND QUIET. LET THIS NEVER HAPPEN.
Before I delve into health care, I need to ask a fundamental question. Is it the Government’s responsibility to provide health insurance to every person living in America legally and/or illegally? Is there anywhere in United States Constitution that says every person living in America has the right to government health care? The simple answer is NO. It does however say ”We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Now if I come off sounding inhumane, tough. Please tell me a place in America where a person can walk into an emergency room and be denied service? You can’t because there is nowhere in this great country that would deny a person medical assistance legal or not. We need to really take a hard look as Americans and ask ourselves if this is the path we want to go. I had to remind myself that I wasn’t at another timeshare presentation after watching President Obama’s 4thPrime time Speech of his short 6 month presidency. Have you ever been to a mall, movie theater, or casino and seen a brand new car parked in the middle of the room with a small form to fill out and drop into a box for a drawing? Six weeks later get a phone call letting you know that you won a great prize and possibly even the grand prize and all you need to do is come down and listen to 60-90 minute presentation with absolutely no obligation, just an open mind. You give the salesperson the benefit of the doubt and go to the presentation with an open mind. After 3 hours of telling you how great of a program they have and how much it will not only benefit you, but save you money the presenter tells you if you don’t act and buy right now you are foolish and ignorant and don’t care about yourself and family. Is this sounding familiar? You do the math because you are not foolish, ignorant and do care about your family and notice that it doesn’t add up. In fact not only would it be a giant waste of money, but there would be absolutely NO benefit. You tell the salesman that you have carefully thought about it and you are not interested. The presenter just calls you an idiot because your opinion doesn’t count and you shouldn’t object to there offer, and if you are intelligent you wouldn’t object. Are you supposed to just sit back and watch your hard earn money just disappear because if you oppose an idea or sales pitch you are just being difficult or obstructive? Please America remember Pre World War II Germany when through Democratic elections. Also remember Adolf Hitlers socialist party was elected on the platform of change. They then used fascism and scapegoated Jews and people who were different and had different views. Remember history tells us what happened next. Please remember what our forefathers went to war with England for. Please remember our constitution and what it stands for. Don’t just trust something because everyone tells you it’s the best thing to do. Thank you and God Bless America……
Have you ever felt like the comedian Robin Williams in the movie “Goodmorning Vietnam?” Wake up America and take a hard look at what is going on in your country. Remember ”We the People” is supose to mean exactly what it says, but unfortunately the majority rule of the people means nothing these days. The Iowa Supreme court doesn’t think so. Just like in California, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, “We the People” means we the higher court. The courts and government seem to be making all our decisions for us. Are we not capable of deciding what’s right, fair, and just for ourselves? Does are vote count or mean anything anymore? Are we a society that depends solely on the government? It’s time to have a gut check.
Everyone has been told that both the $790 Billion Stimulus package along with the fiscal budget proposal which will exceed 1.75 Trillion combined is to stimulate the economy, save the banks, create job growth, and keep people in their homes. Spend, spend, spend, or borrow, borrow, barrow, is being sold like a bill of goods. What happen to save, save, save? Why are we spending like there is no tomorrow? Does our government know their own history and the history of others who have tried to spend their way out of a recession? We are being driven by our leaders to go out and borrow more money to pay for things now that we can’t afford, while we bankrupt our future and our childrens futures. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t spend, but don’t borrow to spend. We have also been told that there is no pork and/or earmarks in these packages. How about over 7000 earmarks from both Republicans and Democrats alike. Oh my goodness, 200 million for tattoo removal. Are we as tax payers here to reward the selfish and greedy homeowners who made the choice to buy a home they couldn’t afford? Here is another example of where are taxes are going.
Like President Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” It sure looks like Obama and our representatives are following Emanuel’s advice and taking full advantage of the country’s economic situation. What price will our country pay for listening to one of the most partisan figures in government? Has Obama declared himself Ceasar? Is President Obama and the Roman Senate going to make the United States of America burn? Remember America, it was the Roman’s who killed Christ and they eventually collapsed from within.
Like the man behind the curtains in the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz” the Democratically controlled House and Senate are trying to get the public to pay no attention to the Stimulus bill. Remember this, not one Congressman and/or Senator read or was given the chance to read the almost 1100 page bill before voting on it. What happened to the 48 hour promise to the people that everyone would have the chance to read the bill before it was voted on. What is really going on here? Are we all sheep and puppets? Do we just believe everything we are told from this administration because President Obama is such a great speaker? Have you ever been to college and had some college Professor lecture to you a one sided argument and you were expected to believe it like it was the word of God? Remember Obama was a President of the Harvard Law review. I feel that a great percentage of Americans would jump of a bridge if Obama said it would stimulate the economy.
Where is the transparency President Obama promised throughout his campaign of “Change” and “Yes We Can?” Is hypocrisy running rampant in this current administration? Do we let every promise President Obama made during the Campaign slide because he throws so many out there at once that we can’t choose which ones to hold him accountable for? Are we being blinded by the storm? These are all questions you should ask yourself or at least consider.
I know it is not nice to talk about persons age, but 200 years is 200 years. 200 years ago today our 16th United States President Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Kentucky. The great President Lincoln was a Republican and best know for the civil war which led to the ending on slavery. On January 1, 1863, President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. President Lincoln was assassinated at the beginning of his second term on Good Friday, April 14, 1865, at Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C. by a lone gunman named John Wilkes Booth. As American’s we should always remember and cherish President Lincoln’s second inaugural address inscribed at the Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C. that reads “With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds…. “
The word “Pork” is very similar to the word ”earmarks” in that it is a unnessary spending project put in a legislative bill. Time for change is here and it’s in the form of European Socialism. Who and What did the “We the People” vote for? Does BiPartisanship mean having Professor President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi dictate, distort, lecture, and scare the public into believing we have no choice? Are we so brainwashed that we will follow the sheepherder and his flock anywhere? $839, 000, 000,000 seems like alot of 0′s doesn’t it? Are we going to be burdened to pay this back in the form of taxes for generations to come? They’re is hope, but it’s not in the form of Government control. Please step back, take a deep breathe, then have a good look at what is going on in the stimulus package. Is it truly what you want?
